US GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL

In the United States, buildings account for 36% of total energy use, 65% of electricity consumption, 30% of greenhouse gas emissions, 30% of raw materials use, and output 136 million tons of waste water annually (www.usgbc.org). So what does this mean to Hunt & Caraway Architects? It has prompted us to become GREENalicious! GREENalicious is H&C’s commitment to saving the Owner money, saving the Contractor time, and saving everyone’s air, environment, and atmosphere.

Keen on Green!

Due to a deep understanding of the vast impact the building industry has on our environment, Hunt & Caraway Architects is committed to mitigating environmental damage by providing sustainable solutions that fit your needs and integrate seamlessly into your scope of work. Hunt & Caraway Architects continually researches various ways to make your facility GREENalicious without compromising special aspects that make it applicable and manageable for you and your organization. Solutions will not only benefit the environment while increasing occupant efficiency and well-being, but can also reduce operating costs and increase asset value as well.

LEEDing the Way!
Following the guidelines of the LEED rating system set forth by the US Green Building Council, “green design” encompasses sustainable site development, water and energy efficiency, the use of sustainable materials, and healthy indoor environments (www.usgbc.org). Hunt & Caraway Architects currently has three project managers seeking LEED accreditation and one project that will receive LEED certification when completed.

Project Manager Jonathan Schmid affirms that “a good design strives to be energy-efficient to save money as well as the environment.” For this reason, our architects and designers pay very close attention to the designs we advocate and the materials we use, lessening the financial operations burden on your facility without sacrificing its functional utilization and sustainability.

Going…Going…GREEN!
But what is the best way to ensure that your project is GREENalicious ? Going green is a team effort; thus, the Owner, Contractor, and Architect must work together to appropriately select green materials, stay up-to-date on the latest green research, and maintain high standards for each building. As Architect and often Project Manager, our team at Hunt & Caraway Architects is challenged to be “in the know” and convey useful information to the rest of the project team members on a consistent basis.  We have ensured this occurs by compiling Green Library containing the latest innovative green solutions and plausible specifications for your incorporation into your projects!

GREEN or BUST!
You too can become GREENalicious with Hunt & Caraway Architects as we systematically balance the aesthetics of natural art and creative design with the ever-growing responsibility to protect the world in which we live. GREENalicious is H&C!
